From April 15 to July 17, 2011 – The State Tretyakov Gallery

It is a retrospective exhibition of the two brothers Sergey (born in 1922) and Alexey (born in 1925) Tkachevs. They are classics artists of the Soviet art and continue the traditions of the Russian realistic school.

Aleksei Tkachev became a member of the Russian Academy of Arts in 1978. This gave him the title of “acadmician” – one of the highest honors and most prestigious titles a Russian artist can receive. He is considered a leading realist painter of the 1950s and 1960s.

He has created major works with his brother, artist Sergei Tkachev. Their works hang in numerous museums, including the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, and have been exhibited at the Smithsonian International Gallery in Washington, D.C. They both live and work in Moscow.
