Nina Katchadourian Lavatory Self-Portrait in the Flemish Style 2011 C-print Courtesy of the artist and Catharine Clark Gallery

Until the 17th of July 2011 – Dudenin Public Art Gallery

This New York based artist will be spending six weeks in Dunedin as part of the Gallery’s Creative New Zealand Visiting Artist Programme. Seat Assignment promises to be an exciting new project in which the artist turns her downtime on flights, in particular her long-haul trip to New Zealand, into a period and place for artistic production. Limiting her materials to items and situations she experiences in flight and the usual travelling detritus that she takes on board, Katchadourian sets up and documents a vast array of activities on her phone, which will be the basis for her residency project.
